Weather Synopsis

Active weather continues although the Northland will get a brief break from the storminess through Friday.  The storm which brought rain to the area Wednesday has moved into eastern Canada today while the next system moves out into the south central Plains.  High pressure was building south out of Manitoba and this high has helped to decrease the clouds over northern Minnesota while generally overcast skies continued in most of northwest Wisconsin.  Below average highs today with late afternoon temperatures in the mid 40s to mid 50s with upper 50s over north central Minnesota.

*Partly to mostly cloudy skies and chilly tonight with lows in the 20s and 30s.  Partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies Friday with highs in the 50s to lower 60s but in the 40s near Lake Superior as east winds increase with gusts of 20-25 mph developing by the afternoon.

*High pressure will be in control of our weather into Friday night while low pressure lifts slowly N/NE out of western Oklahoma -- This low will affect our weather Saturday and Sunday with rain spreading from south to north across the Northland Saturday with lingering rain showers expected Sunday.  It will be chilly this weekend but surface temperatures will probably be just warm enough to keep precipitation in the form of rain, however, temperatures aloft will be cooling to support some snow especially in far western-far northern portions of the Northland, so it will come down to what the surface temperature is as to whether or not any snow will make it down to the surface.
