Weather Synopsis for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

Cooler temperatures today but still above average with highs in the 20s to lower 30s.  Generally mostly cloudy skies over the Northland today with patchy drizzle and freezing drizzle mainly around Lake Superior.

An area of low pressure over southern Manitoba Province this afternoon will track east as it passes just north of Lake Superior by Sunday afternoon -- This system will drag a cold front through the Northland tonight bringing a threat for some light snow or a light wintry mix of precipitation.  Snowfall is expected to remain under one inch while ice accumulations should only amount to a trace to perhaps up to 0.05 inches at most.  Not a huge snow/ice event tonight but still be aware of the possibility for some light snow or freezing rain which could lead to slick spots on some area roads.

Gusty northwest winds will be the big weather story on Sunday as a shot of cold air advection pours into the Northland.  Wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph are likely with wind gusts possibly topping 35 or even 40 mph!

Low temperatures tonight will be in the teens and 20s with highs on Sunday in the 20s to lower 30s.  Note:  Temperatures late tonight are forecast to climb into the 30s with a few locations in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin possibly getting close to 40 degrees for a few hours late tonight.

Milder temperatures return to the Northland on Monday with afternoon temperatures climbing into the 30s, possibly even a few 40s!
