Forecast Discussion for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin
Today - Monday (July 25)
A nice Monday ahead with high pressure moving across the Upper Midwest. Sunny to partly cloudy skies today with highs mainly in the 80s along with a west wind at 10 to 20 mph. Partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight with a chance for showers and thunderstorms in parts of northern Minnesota mainly later tonight as a cold front begins to approach the area from the northwest. Lows tonight will mainly be in the 60s with south or southwest winds at 5 to 15 mph.
A chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday as a cold front moves slowly south out of northern Minnesota. There should be sufficient amounts of moisture and instability in place for thunderstorms but the chance for severe weather looks pretty low as there doesn't look to be much shear, and the winds aloft look fairly weak at the moment -- An isolated pulse-type severe storm certainly can't be ruled out though for Tuesday or Wednesday but I think downpours and cloud to ground lightning strikes will be the main hazards from any thunderstorm during the Tuesday-Wednesday time frame.
Highs on Tuesday should be in the 80s with highs Wednesday in the 70s and 80s.
