Weather Summary for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin
Date:  March 28, 2016

A nice spring day considering the weather we had this past weekend.  High temperatures today ranged from the 30s to around 40 degrees near Lake Superior to the upper 40s and 50s elsewhere in the Northland.  Sky conditions varied between partly sunny and mostly sunny today.  Winds were out of the north, east or south at generally 5 to 15 mph.

Forecast Discussion for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin

Short Term Forecast - Confidence:  High.

Tonight (March 28)

A quiet weather night as high pressure moves east out of the Upper Midwest.  Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected with patchy fog possible.  Lows will be in the 20s and 30s with teens possible in far Northeast Minnesota.  Winds will be out of the east or southeast at 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday and Tuesday night (March 29)

Dry tomorrow under a partly to mostly sunny sky, highs will be in the 50s with near 60 degree temperatures possible in Southern parts of the area, cooler 30s and 40s will be found near Lake Superior.  Winds will be out of the south or east at 10 to 15 mph.

An area of high pressure will head toward the Eastern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley on Tuesday while low pressure tracks into the Northern Plains/Western High Plains -- A warm front will lift northeast into the Upper Midwest and this will help in producing some rain by Tuesday night.  Lows tomorrow night will be in the 30s and 40s.  Winds tomorrow night will be out of the south or east at 10 to 15 mph.

Extended Forecast - Confidence:  Low.

Wednesday through Friday (March 30-April 1)

Looking a little wet on Wednesday as a cold front pushes south/east of the Northland while low pressure moves out into the Central Plains -- End result from all this will be for some rain to affect the area.

Low pressure is forecast to lift northeast out of the Central Plains from Wednesday night through Thursday while another disturbance digs south/east into the Northern Plains.  A chance for rain or wet snow in our area on Thursday and there is a chance for a band of accumulating snow to setup somewhere over the Upper Midwest with those chances looking greatest in Northern Wisconsin and possibly west into Eastern Minnesota.  Note:  Some changes will probably take place between now and Thursday so check back for updates.

A chance for snow showers and flurries on Friday.

High temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be in the 30s and 40s with lows in the 20s and 30s.  Highs on Friday are forecast to be in the 30s.

Long Range Forecast - Confidence:

(April 2-6)

Below to near normal temperatures during the long range with a couple chances for snow or rain.
