Blue=Snow; Darker blue colors indicate moderate to heavy snowfall.
-No doubt about it today's light snowfall event has turned out to be a little more significant than what was expected 24-hours ago at least in parts of the Northland.
-An area of low pressure and cold front is moving east through the Upper Midwest today with good convergence taking place over the Northland -- This combined with decent mid level lapse rates has been causing moderate to heavy convective type snow bursts today in parts of Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin, outside of these bursts of heavier snow, precipitation in the form of drizzle, freezing drizzle and light snow has been occurring along with areas of fog. Temperatures are on the mild side today with low and mid 30s so some of this snow today has been melting resulting in water and or slush covered roads in parts of the area.
-Expect drizzle, light snow and patchy freezing drizzle to continue into early this evening with bursts of moderate to heavy snow also continuing for a few more hours -- Visibility underneath these snow squalls will be down to around 1/2 mile.
