Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for portions of Northern and Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin for Saturday Afternoon through Tuesday Evening.  Counties included in the watch are:  Koochiching MN...Northern Itasca MN...Carlton MN...St. Louis MN...Lake MN...Cook MN...Douglas WI...Bayfield WI...Ashland WI...Iron WI...Washburn WI...Sawyer WI...and Price WI.  Some cities included in the watch are:  International Falls MN...Bigfork MN...Moose Lake MN...Wright MN...Duluth MN...Hibbing MN...Ely MN...Crane Lake MN...Two Harbors MN...Finland MN...Lutsen MN...Grand Marais MN...Superior WI...Solon Springs WI...Port Wing WI...Bayfield WI...Cable WI...Ashland WI...Butternut WI...Upson WI...Hurley WI...Montreal WI...Mercer WI...Minong WI...Shell Lake WI...Hayward WI...Winter WI...Park Falls WI...Phillips WI...and Ogema WI.

Impacts:  Afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s with heat indices of around 100 degrees.  Sunstroke...Muscle cramps and heat exhaustion are possible with prolonged exposure and or physical activity.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected.  The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.  Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for portions of Eastcentral Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin from 1 PM CDT Saturday until 10 PM CDT Tuesday.  Counties included in the warning are:  Southern Itasca MN...Cass MN...Crow Wing MN...Aitkin MN...Pine MN...and Burnett WI.  Some cities included in the warning are:  Cass Lake MN...Walker MN...Leader MN...Brainerd MN...Aitkin MN...Hill City MN...McGregor MN...Hinckley MN...Pine City MN...Danbury WI...Siren WI...and Grantsburg WI.
