Forecast Discussion for Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin

Today's Weather:

Strong low pressure of 988mb was located just south-east of Hudson Bay Canada early This Evening with high pressure of 1016mb centered in Western Manitoba Province.  Partly-mostly cloudy skies were found in our area Today with some left over flurries and snow showers during the Morning.  Highs were in the 30s and lower 40s Today so still below average for mid-April.  Winds were out of the north or northwest at 10-20 mph.

Tonight:

Partly to mostly cloudy skies will continue with high pressure to our northwest.  Lows will be in the teens and 20s with north or east winds under 15 mph.

Monday and Monday Night:

High pressure will be centered to our north during this period with low pressure heading out into the Southcentral Plains.  Partly to mostly cloudy skies will continue this period with highs Monday in the 30s and 40s with lows Monday Night in the 20s to around 30 degrees.  Winds will be out of the east under 20 mph during this period.

Extended Forecast:

Low pressure is forecast to track northeast from the Southcentral Plains to LOWER Michigan from Tuesday to Wednesday.  Snow or a mix of rain and snow will move into Northwest Wisconsin Tuesday Evening with some snow moving into Eastcentral and Northeast Minnesota Tuesday Night.  Snow should linger into Wednesday Morning before tapering to flurries Wednesday Afternoon.  Note:  The computer models continue to show some disagreement with the track of the low for Tuesday-Wednesday and this will affect how much precipitation reaches this far north.  At this time, it appears that a swath of 1-4" of snow could fall in Northwest Wisconsin, the Twin Ports, and Eastcentral Minnesota reas with little if any snow for Northern Minnesota the way it looks now.

High temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 30s and 40s with lows Tuesday Night and Wednesday Night generally in the 20s.
