Extended Forecast:

Cutoff low which has been over the Southwest U.S. during the past few days will finally open up and lift northeast toward the Northern Plains/Upper Midwest this weekend and early next week.  This system combined with some instability and moisture will cause a few showers or thunderstorms at times in Minnesota from Saturday through Monday.  A cold front is then forecast to drop southeast through our area sometime Tuesday/Wednesday of next week with more showers possible at that time.  Friday looks unseasonably warm in Northern Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin with 850 mb temperatures rising to between +18/+21 degrees C which will lead to widespread 70s, possibly even a few 80 degree high temperatures.  Lows Friday Night will mainly be in the 50s which is where our average high should be for this time of year.  High temperatures on Saturday will be in the 60s and 70s, although 50s are expected near Lake Superior as winds swing around to the east sometime Friday Night or early Saturday.  Low temperatures Saturday Night will be in the 40s and 50s.
