Weather Synopsis

Cold front continues to move toward the south/east early this evening -- This front as of 7 PM extended from north central Wisconsin to southeast Minnesota with westerly winds ahead of the front turning northwest behind it.  Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms erupted this afternoon in far northeast Minnesota north of Duluth with more scattered strong to severe storms erupting early this evening over portions of northwest Wisconsin.  There is plenty of fuel for these storms with CAPE of 1000-2500 j/kg with dew points in the mid 60s early this evening in portions of northwest Wisconsin.

Cooler and less humid weather on the way through Saturday.  Cold front will exit northwest Wisconsin before midnight with scattered thunderstorms some strong to severe continuing through the late evening hours.  Mainly dry over the entire Northland overnight with lows in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

A mix of sun and clouds Friday with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms affecting parts of the area.  No severe weather is expected Friday but brief downpours and occasional lightning is possible during the afternoon.  Highs Friday in the 70s with 60s in far northeast Minnesota.

Saturday looks dry with highs in the 70s to lower 80s

.Saturday...  Mostly sunny.  High 75 to 80.  Wind west to northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
