Weather Synopsis

The Northland is in a nice pattern right now with comfortable temperatures in our area with highs today ranging from the 60s near Lake Superior to the 70s elsewhere -- Farther west it's a much different story today as intense heat builds north into the northern Rockies and western High Plains where highs today got into the 90s to around 100 degrees in parts of Montana, Wyoming and the western Dakotas.

Looks mainly dry in our area tonight under partly cloudy skies, could be some patchy low clouds or fog later on.  Lows will be in the 50s but 40s are certainly possible in the typical cold spots around the area.

Independence Day doesn't look too bad as will have a mix of sun/clouds across the Northland.  It will turn a little more humid as dew points climb into the low or mid 60s away from Lake Superior.  Highs Tuesday will be in the 70s to lower 80s with 60s near Lake Superior as a lake breeze continues.  There could be a few pop up showers or thunderstorms especially over western-southern portions of the area Tuesday or Tuesday night but I think most of the Northland will remain dry the way it looks now.

Midweek looks kinda warm in our area as daytime highs make it into the 80s while dew points range from the 60s to lower 70s -- Haven't had too many muggy days so far this summer but Wednesday and possibly Thursday could be quite muggy!

There is a chance for a few showers or thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front slices through the area.  Should be plenty of instability (Fuel) for storms both days thanks to the warmer and more humid conditions.  Mid level winds look fairly weak Wednesday but do increase Thursday so there could be a few strong to severe thunderstorms in parts of the Northland especially Thursday with a lower chance on Wednesday.

Cooler and less humid weather returns Friday and Saturday with a warming trend occurring again later this weekend.
