Keeping an eye on next Tuesday when a more widespread rain event could affect northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin but this will depend on the track of the surface low, right now it's tracking favorably to give us a decent amount of rain, but this system could trend farther south in coming days which would decrease the potential for a soaking rainfall in parts of our area.

Weather Synopsis for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin
Partly to mostly cloudy skies today with highs in the low to mid 60s except for 40s and 50s closer to Lake Superior. A low pressure system along with its warm front and cold front are approaching from the west today, this system combined with another disturbance which is tracking E/NE across Iowa has been producing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms today over southern portions of Minnesota with a few widely scattered showers passing through east central Minnesota and far western Wisconsin this afternoon.
Scattered showers are possible over portions of the Northland tonight under mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies. There is some weak instability over the area this afternoon with elevated CAPE of 100-500 j/kg with Lifted Index values down to around -1 C, this could lead to an isolated thunderstorm or two but widespread thunderstorm activity is not expected tonight.
The system giving us the scattered shower potential tonight will still be with us Saturday as it continues on its eastward journey through the upper Midwest and into the western-central Great Lakes. An all day widespread rain event is not expected Saturday but there could be a few showers at times with a spotty thunderstorm possible in parts of northwest Wisconsin. Note: There should be several dry hours Saturday and some of us will likely not get any rain at all.
Lows tonight will be on the mild side for mid April with temperatures generally in the 40s to around 50 degrees. Note: Normal lows are in the upper 20s to around 30 degrees at this time of year.
Highs Saturday will be in the 50s and 60s but if enough clearing can develop, then a few 70s are possible especially in western portions of the Northland.
Easter Sunday will feature a mix of clouds and sun with a breezy day as west winds gust to around 20-25 mph -- Another system will approach from the NW with a cold front dropping into the Northland Sunday, a few showers are possible with this system but like Saturday widespread rains are highly unlikely. Highs Sunday will range from the 60s in southern areas with mid 40s and 50s in northern Minnesota.
