A strong area of low pressure is forecast to move into the southern Plains on Tuesday, this low is then expected to lift northeast toward the Ohio Valley by Thursday -- This storm will be too far south to impact the Northland during the middle of the week but the track of the storm could change a bit in coming days although that chance is pretty low.

There's been quite a few moderate risk days so far this year -- Sunday is another day that holds a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms (Red area on map) Widespread severe thunderstorms and a risk of tornadoes (Some strong) on the way for Sunday over parts of the southern Plains.

Weather Synopsis for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

Mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies with mild temperatures over the Northland today as we kick off the month of April.  Highs were in the 50s to lower 60s with mid/upper 40s in far northern Minnesota.  A weak cold front continued to move through the area this afternoon -- A few showers did occur in parts of the area mainly before noon but rainfall totals were only in the trace to at most 0.05 inch range.

A quiet weather night ahead as today's cold front stalls out while it turns into a warm front.  Partly to mostly cloudy skies will be found over the Northland tonight with lows mainly in the 30s.

Note:  There is a chance for some low cloud/fog development especially near Lake Superior tonight through Sunday morning as winds swing around to the east.

A warm front is forecast to lift NE through the area on Sunday which will be followed by a cold front for Sunday night-Monday morning.  This system will bring some rain showers to the Northland mainly from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.  Highs on Sunday will be in the 50s but a few 60s can't be ruled out if there is enough sunshine.  Cooler temperatures in the 40s will be found along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
