Weather Synopsis for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

A mild day across the Northland with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s with slightly cooler temperatures closer to Lake Superior.  Skies were partly to mostly cloudy today with a few spotty showers at times over western portions of the area.

An area of low pressure will pass well south of the Northland tonight but an upper level disturbance will continue to move across the upper Midwest and this feature could bring a few showers to mainly the western-southern portions of the area tonight.  Lows will be in the 30s to around 40 degrees under a partly or mostly cloudy sky.

Dry on Thursday with a mix of clouds/sun.  Highs will be in the 50s to low 60s with cooler temperatures near Lake Superior.

The next opportunity for some rain will come Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning as low pressure along with its warm front and cold front pass through the upper Midwest.  At the moment it looks like the heavier rainfall with this system will remain over southern Minnesota into central Wisconsin with lighter rainfall amounts farther north in our area.

Friday will be cooler area-wide with the coolest temps near Lake Superior because of an east wind.  A wind shift on Saturday could lead to widespread temperatures in the mid 50s to low/mid 60s, however if Friday's system slows down, then temperatures will likely be cooler on Saturday, and a threat for some rain would also continue.

Cooler temperatures return for Easter Sunday along with a chance for some rain or snow showers in parts of the Northland.

A more organized low pressure system could affect the Northland sometime between April 17-19, this system could bring rain or snow to our area if it tracks far enough to the north.
