80 degree temperatures possible Saturday in southwest Minnesota; 60s/70s in the Northland (Cooler near Lake Superior)

Weather Tidbits:

-Today marks the 6th day in a row with a high temperature of at least 50 degrees at the Duluth Airport (March 31-April 5)  Keep in mind that the normal high temperature in early April is in the lower 40s.

Weather Synopsis for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

A little cooler today but still above average for early April.  A strong area of low pressure was moving into central Illinois late this afternoon with high pressure over western Manitoba Province.  Northerly flow between the low to our SE and high to our NW has resulted in some modest cold air advection across the area today with 4 PM 850mb temperatures of -1 to -4 degrees C.  Highs today were in the mid 40s to low 50s with a pocket of mid 50s from Aitkin and Moose Lake, south to Hinckley.

A dry weather pattern persists over the Northland at least through Saturday.  High pressure will be in control of our weather with it moving off to the south/east by late Friday.

Lows tonight will be in the 20s to lower 30s, highs Thursday in the 40s to lower 50s.  Lows Thursday night in the 30s with 20s possible in the typical cold spots.  Highs Friday in the 50s to lower 60s, cooler along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
