Weather Synopsis for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

A strong low was centered well to the north of our area over Hudson Bay Canada today while a strong high was over Saskatchewan Province -- Strong west or northwest winds continued over the Northland for the second day in a row due to the tight pressure gradient between the low to our N and high to our NW.  Wind speeds today have been in the 15 to 30 mph range with gusts of 40-50+ mph continuing in parts of the area.  Highs were in the teens and 20s, below average for the 8th of March.  Scattered snow squalls lingered in parts of the area this morning but these have since ended this afternoon with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies across the Northland.

Still on the breezy side tonight although not as extreme as last night, wind speeds will be in the 15 to 25 mph range with gusts of 30+ mph especially before midnight.

High pressure will slowly build south/east out of Saskatchewan Province and into the upper Midwest during the next few days.  Partly to at times mostly cloudy skies can be expected in our area through Friday.

Lows tonight will be in the single digits below in far northern Minnesota to the single digits and teens above farther south.  Highs Thursday will be in the teens and 20s.  Lows Thursday night in the single digits below to single digits above zero with teens and even 20s below possible in northern Minnesota.  Highs Friday will only be in the single digits and teens.
