Weather Tidbits for Duluth, Minnesota

*Low temperature of 26 degrees on November 18th was the coldest minimum temperature since April 12th, over 7 months ago (17 degrees)

*2nd wettest November 18th on record -- Yesterday's precipitation total was 0.74".  Note:  The wettest November 18th on record is 0.75" which was set in 1991.

Weather Summary for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

Much colder temperatures in wake of Friday's powerful winter storm.  Highs today were mainly in the 20s with a brisk wind out of the north or northwest at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.  Low pressure has moved into eastern Canada today but clouds and a few snow flurries lingered behind this low with some lake effect snow showers along the South Shore of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin.  The coldest airmass so far this fall moved into the Upper Midwest today with early evening 850mb temperatures ranging from -10 to -14 C!

.Short Term Forecast...

Tonight (November 19)

Partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight with low temperatures in the single digits to around 20 degrees but subzero lows are possible in the typical cold spots across northern Minnesota.  Winds will be out of the north, west or southeast at 5 to 15 mph.

Sunday (November 20)

A weak cold front moves through parts of the Northland on Sunday but high pressure will be the main weather feature with the ridge extending from western Ontario Province to near the Ohio Valley.  Partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs mainly in the 20s.  Lows Sunday night will range from the single digits to lower 20s but subzero lows are possible again in the Arrowhead of Minnesota.  Winds will be out of the east or southeast at 5 to 15 mph.

Monday (November 21)

Mainly dry on Monday with highs in the 20s to lower 30s.  Lows Monday night will be in the teens and 20s.

Tuesday and Wednesday (November 22-23)

Snow or mixed precipitation is possible Tuesday and Wednesday as low pressure heads east/northeast out of the central Plains -- There are some differences in the track of surface low and also in the amount of precipitation that falls across the Northland but there is potential for a few inches of snow in parts of area from Tuesday evening into Wednesday.
