Weather Summary for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin

Seasonably cool temperatures across the Northland today with highs generally in the 40s which is near to about 5 degrees below average for late October, nothing drastic but certainly cooler compared to what it has been like recently.  Started off the day with a mix of sun and clouds but this afternoon has featured more clouds than sun in most of the area.  Not much wind today with west or north westerlies at around 10 mph.

.Short Term Forecast...

Tonight (October 20)

Mostly cloudy skies should clear out a bit during the night - High pressure passes over the Upper Midwest tonight.  Low temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s but teens are possible in the typical cold spots if skies clear out soon enough.  Light and variable wind tonight under 10 mph.

Friday (October 21)

High pressure moves off to the east while a weak system moves into the northern Plains.  Partly to mostly cloudy skies Friday.  A few rain showers are possible in extreme northern Minnesota but the majority of the Northland stays dry.  Highs will be in the 40s to lower 50s with lows Friday night in the 30s and 40s.  Winds will be out of the south at 10 to around 20 mph.

Saturday (October 22)

Looks pretty nice on Saturday with daytime highs in the 50s to lower 60s and it should be dry.  Low temperatures Saturday night will be in the 30s and 40s.

Sunday (October 23)

An area of low pressure is forecast to move across the northern Plains on Saturday, passing through the Upper Midwest on Sunday - This system could bring a few rain showers to parts of the Northland especially on Sunday the way it looks now.  High temperatures on Sunday are expected to be in the 40s and 50s.

Note:  The next best chance for potentially widespread rain still looks to be from next Tuesday-Thursday, October 25-27.

.Tonight...  Mostly cloudy with some clearing expected during the night.  Low 30 to 35.  Wind light and variable around 10 mph.

.Friday...  Partly to mostly cloudy.  High 45 to 50.  Wind south at 10 to 20 mph.

.Saturday...  Partly to mostly cloudy.  High 55 to 60.  Wind west at 10 to 15 mph.
