...Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast to redevelop in parts of the Northland this afternoon and evening...
Late this morning a cold front stretched from northeast Minnesota to western Minnesota -- This boundary will slowly move toward the south/east through this evening. A moist and unstable airmass is already in place ahead of this front with dew points in the 60s with CAPE of 1000-2000 j/kg. Scattered showers and thunderstorms should develop and move through portions of the Northland into the evening hours.
The main hazards out of these thunderstorms will be from cloud to ground lightning and heavy downpours.
Winds aloft are fairly weak today, and the wind shear is marginal so widespread severe weather is not expected, but thunderstorms could pulse to severe levels or close to severe levels especially south of Highway 2. A few of the storms could produce wind gusts greater than 50 mph and hail approaching 1.00 inch diameter (Quarter sized)
