Forecast Discussion for NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin

Short Term Forecast - Confidence:  High.

Tonight through Friday night (April 28-29)

Little or no change in the overall weather pattern as high pressure remains anchored to our north over Ontario Province while low pressure over the Ohio Valley moves off to the east while a new low pressure system heads northeast out of the southern Plains -- Partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight with a few showers possible in far southern areas.  Generally partly cloudy sky conditions on the way for Friday.  Low temperatures tonight and Friday night will mainly be in the 30s to around 40 degrees although a few spots in far northeast Minnesota could drop into the 20s.  Highs on Friday will be in the 50s with 40s near Lake Superior.  Winds will be out of the north or northeast at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts tonight near Lake Superior.

Extended Forecast - Confidence:  High.

Saturday through Monday (April 30-May 2)

Mainly dry from Saturday through Monday.  High pressure will remain in control of our weather on Saturday and Sunday, this high will finally move away on Monday and this will allow for a weak disturbance which approaches from the NW, this feature could touch off a few spotty showers in parts of the area on Monday but this doesn't look like a real big deal at the moment.

High temperatures on Saturday will be in the 50s to around 60 degrees, highs on Sunday and Monday will be in the 50s and 60s.  Note:  Cooler temperatures will continue near Lake Superior mainly on Saturday and Sunday.

Low temperatures Saturday night will be in the 30s with lows Sunday night in the 30s and 40s.

Long Range Forecast - Confidence:  Low to Medium.

(May 3-8)

Near to possibly above average temperatures are expected during the long range.  No signs of any major storm systems affecting our area through May 8th.
